Beautiful piece of nature reserve with drifting dunes, partly fenced off for grazers, including cattle, goats, etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De Leeuwenkuil is een afgesloten natuurgebied. Voorheen een stinkend en vervuild moeras doordat de Hilversumse industrie zijn vervuilde afvalwater er loosde, nu een afgegraven en volledige herstelde zandverstuiving.
Prachtig om omheen te wandelen of hard te lopen (IVN geeft af en toe ook excursies in dit gebied zelf). Goed te combineren met Anna's Hoeve of voor een echt flinke wandeling met de schitterende heide tussen Hilversum en Bussum. Hiervoor moet je wel even de N525 oversteken of onderdoor gaan.
De Leeuwenkuil is an enclosed nature reserve. Previously a smelly and polluted swamp because the Hilversum industry discharged its polluted wastewater, now an excavated and completely restored sand drift.
Wonderful to walk around or run (IVN occasionally also gives excursions in this area itself). Good to combine with Anna's Hoeve or for a really long walk with the beautiful heather between Hilversum and Bussum. For this you have to cross the N525 or go underneath.
