Tasty food, decent prices, tables for big group. Service is quick (which is rather unusual for dutch restaurants).

This eetcafe (bar/restaurant) is situated directly opposite Eindhoven Central station (city centre side) and has a decent menu, friendly staff, and unlike a lot of other places near the station their terrace (popular during summer months) is kept clean and tidy. Recommended.

The best in Eindhoven, I just miss it so much, they re one of the reasons that I love that city, I hope I can be there to stay forever very soon. Beautiful people, very friendly, amazing food, nice prices.

The food is good, but the waiting times with under half the capacity are quite long. Tonight I did not necessarily mind the waiting time, but for any other dinner it would have been an hour too much. Quality of the food and attitude of the staff was unexpectedly good.

On a typical Dutch Evening I stumbled into this restaurant by chance. I wanted to try out a pho restaurant, but Maps kind of misled me, so I was walking around craving for a hearty soup. Well, De Vrienden did not disappoint. I started with a beer ? and ordered from their menu a three course meal. It would be very rude to not point out how pleasant and welcoming the staff were. I should have asked for their names buty third world mentality held me back, wasn't sure if it would be rude. Although, I'm in the Netherlands, amd all I had to do was ask! The Vis Soep (Fish Soup) was just perfect for an evening of light drizzles and watching people scurry for cover as the drizzle turned into a shower. For the main course, I had a Grilled Salmon which as per my non culinary taste buds, was amazing. I ended it with a waffle dessert. Overall, it was a very memorable and enjoyable experience for a lone traveller like me.

One of the biggest disappointments I've had in a long time. Visited with a group of friends to have a nice evening meal out. The service was decent, but could've been better. This restaurant has a serious identity crisis. Spanish music (the same 5-6 songs on repeat) was blasted throughout the whole dinner, the lights were super dim, and the atmosphere was more of a pub-like vibe. The menu is also all over the place. There are "Japanese" menu items, Spanish menu items, Italian menu items, and even some Dutch menu items. The wine list was very misleading, as the wines ordered were not in stock or not offered by the restaurant. We ordered two Italian wines (one red, one white) from the menu, but instead received two completely different wines (Cramele Recaș - Legendary) from Romania -- these were called their "house wines". Each one was charged as 21€ and neither one was listed on the menu or any other price list. The final bill even overcharged the white one as being the one we wanted from the menu. This being said, the staff were apologetic once we brought up the mischarge and refunded the difference in price. The food was frankly quite horrendous and definitely not worth the price. Most of the people in our group did not feel well after the meal. The staff insisted that everything was freshly prepared on the day, however this is questionable at best due to the aforementioned fact. Out of 5 people, 4 felt nauseous either immediately or within a few hours after the meal. When mentioned to the staff that someone was feeling unwell after the main course, they apologized and informed the kitchen immediately. No further action was taken at that moment. Feedback was given to the staff immediately after the meal, and was well received even though it was quite negative, which is well appreciated. No action was taken to rectify the situation other than the staff offering a round of free shots of caramel vodka (interesting choice for a table that wasn't necessarily feeling too well after the meal). In conclusion, I personally wouldn't recommend De Vrienden in its current situation at all. There are serious changes that should be considered and implemented in order to improve the experience we had. Overall, it was a ruined evening.

We arrived at the restaurant around 8:30pm and there were seats available inside and out. We were offered to choose our own seats so that was great. But when it came to ordering food, the waitress did not know the menu herself. I think she was new but still she could have gotten a bit of training. Everything we asked she would go and ask from someone at the back. We ordered the 3 course meal. The steak was unfortunately chewy. Not really tough but still enough to make your mouth tired. The meal came with dessert (3rd part of 3 course), and they totally forgot about it. They cleaned up our table and nobody brought the dessert lol. After 10-15 minutes we asked and they said sorry. Nonetheless the waiter and waitress were nice but the service lacked.

Easy place to eat, drink something in a hart of the city center.
