★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Een recente opdracht voor het uitvoeren van een oriënterend nieuwheidsonderzoek mondde uit in een vervelende discussie terwijl er juist veel tijd aan de briefing besteed was om dit te voorkomen. De octrooigemachtigde lijkt simpelweg niet helemaal bij machte om zich de materie eigen te maken en schuift commentaar hierop af op de negatieve uitkomst van het onderzoek. Na enige tijd te hebben geprobeerd uit te leggen dat wij iets anders maken dan wat hij heeft 'onderzocht' waardoor het rapport voor ons geen waarde heeft, heb ik de opdracht moeten ontbinden.
 A recent assignment to conduct an exploratory novelty search resulted in a tedious discussion while a lot of time was spent on the briefing to prevent this. The patent attorney simply does not seem completely in a position to master the matter and is shifting comments on the negative outcome of the investigation. After trying for some time to explain that we make something other than what he 'researched', so that the report has no value to us, I had to rescind the assignment.
