★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went here for an after dinner drink & cheese and it is phenomenal! The cheeses are served in a beautiful and interesting way and they taste really unique. The personnel is great at explaining the different flavors and what pairs with what. We couldn’t sit at the conveyor belt anymore but I could see from a distance, that’s the real treat imho. Seeing the cheeses move in front of you and being able to just take it. Hopefully next time there will be a spot! We will definitely go again!!
It would’ve been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the experience with the cocktails. I feel like it was a new bartender so maybe they need to learn but the margarita had the ratio of Cointreau and Tequila switched and we left it, it was not nice. I had ordered an Old Fashioned and the waitress also said ‘here’s your old fashioned’. But it was a Moscow mule. ? the mule tasted reasonable but of course isn’t the same. Mistakes can happen and it the rest was so amazing that we had a good laugh about it. But I would advise a good workshop for the bartender ?.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great fun and interesting place! #Cheese combinations or #pairings are very delicious and well thought through, and not a huge cocktail menu but the ones they had were very well executed? It is a pretty big place (they have an upstairs and a downstairs), very clean, tall ceilings, colourful and elegant. It seemed the young service ladies were a little bit all over the place, we heard 4x something smash, but overall very helpful, smiling and accomodating, which made it a very pleasant evening. Very much recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service might kill this place. I tried twice before writing my review because I really wanted to love the Kaasbar! First time we went we sat down and waited a while before we got a menu (it was busy though so not too bad). Then we were waiting 5... 10...15 more minutes and still noone asked us if we wanted to order anything. Now we are 20-25 mins in the restaurant and no service, so we decided to leave. We saw all the waiting staff chatting with customers who already had food/drinks which made it even more frustrating. Second time we went at a quieter moment. Similar situation,this time we did get food but it was surprisingly slow service and took ages to received the food/drinks. This is made even more surprising given there's no cooking involved! In the time we ate, you could easily have had two sittings and if you were quicker to check in we would have ordered much more. Wine selection is great, cheeses were delicious and interesting. Ruined by the fact we were often empty glasses/plates and felt like we were waiting the whole evening.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The former De Witte Ballons is now Kaasbar Utrecht. I was really curious about the concept, so I popped in to find out more. Just to see if I could surprise a cheese addict among my friends. The place looked so amazing. With a conveyor belt. That was more than I could have imagined! I asked the waitress about the concept and she was very reluctant to give me any information. Finally she gave me the menu and told me to read it. There was only 1 table with 2 customers. She could not have been busy. After reading the menu I left. I'll be back, with the lucky ones, but I hope there will be friendlier staff.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice concept with great cheeses. Service can be a bit slow. We came with a group of 6. Highly recommended to come with more than 2 people to be able to try more cheeses. We really enjoyed 1, 2, 7, 14 and don’t forget to try 21 (the colosso). I really like that they suggest pairings with the cheese ordered. The ones we tried paired well. Our server, Tessa was really nice and candid with us. It was a Friday evening so it was very busy. One thing we ordered didn’t come, but the server was very nice and apologetic about it. It was just difficult to get the servers attention due to how busy it was, which is why we skipped on ordering dessert and another drink. There is also a ton of mold on the walls near the toilet, but guess that’s normal due to it being close to the canal? Still not a nice sight ?. Highly recommend trying this place out, but maybe try to go when it’s not so busy.
