This place serves authentic Indian food. I have visited this place couple of times now and each time I have had an amazing experience. They have good variety of dishes and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and the owner of the restaurant caters to you personally and ensures that you are comfortable, enjoying the food. They do have vegan options as well!! I would highly recommend to visit this restaurant and I am sure you will come back again. Keep up with the amazing food!!

The service is wonderful and the food flavourful. The menu is filled with Indian and Nepali food. We found the food to be flavourful with the bright kick but some what bland too. We still enjoyed the food, though.

Homely food! The ambience and food taste is a great match! You will find various dishes from Nepal which are mostly influenced by the Indian cuisines. Soft instrumental music ? is great for a perfect date. A 4/5 only because the gulab jamun were served cold which is usually serve as hot or warm. Overall, nice experience. Recommended :)

The Kathmandu restaurant lies a little hidden in the so-called Kinkerbuurt in Amsterdam Oud West. By the way, this neighborhood is not that old, it’s built in the 20th century and named after named after a Dutch philosopher Johannes Kinker… but enough about the local history. Nowadays, in the Kinkerbuurt, you will find a lot of gems from the Middle and Far Eastern countries, so the Kathmandu is certainly placed in the right place of town. Public transport is about 5 minutes walking and there is free but limited parking available, but hey who takes the car for dinner in Amsterdam?! We found the restaurant and reserved via the restaurantweek with a group of three friends. Surprisingly, although the restaurantweek showed only very few tables available, we literally had the whole restaurant, staff and kitchen to ourselves. Having had a look through previous (critical) reviews, I assume this place was owned or operated by a different person before, or… just had a complete makeover after the pandemic. Kathmandu, please let me know if I’m wrong :-)! Anyways, the restaurant looked very new, freshly renovated and very clean and tidy. No unnecessary deco, decent color taste and authentic modern decorated furniture. Facilities, e.g. bathrooms are very clean! The staff was super kind and attentive. Always explained the courses, tried their best with English and asked about spice level before preparing the food. We went for medium, which was good! The food: Please consider that we were almost the only guests which means the kitchen had good time to prepare. I did not see any take out or thuisbezorgd neither. We had 5 courses which were served nicely as shown on the pictures. The lamb and Tandoori chicken were served on a hot plate which is really cool. My recommendation would be to leave out the onions or veggies underneath as they just burned on it and left a little toasty taste. Though that’s probably just a little sidenote. We had so much food, we didn’t make it fully through the main course, but it was delicious! By the way, Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal! The food is therefore influenced by Nepalese and of course Indian flavors and served with different styles of Naan. We had wine and water and those were both absolutely fine, but also nothing β€œspecial” at all. There is a drinks menu though and I am sure they have a lot more options. in summary, we had a great evening and enjoyed the food. The ambience was cozy, calm and friendly. Thank you! If this place offered take out, I would probably go more often. 60€ p.P. is not necessarily the cheapest dinner but the food is definitely worth it’s price. Will come back sometime! Wishing you much success during the restaurantweek, dear Kathmandu restaurant, and hopefully a lot more nights with more guests than just us :-)

We had an Indian 3 course menu. We were asked in advance whether we preferred fish, meat or vegetarian. And how spicy we wanted it. The menu was delicious, Varied, generous and beautifully served. The service was friendly and service oriented. The restaurant is located in a beautiful building with a nice terrace. We felt very comfortable and the music wasn't too loud. Had a nice evening.

We had such a tasty dinner here tonight! The appetizers were so yummy, the thali was so delicious, the Nan-brood was so good!!! Each and every person from the Restaurant management were so pleasant to talk to! The ambience felt so homely unlike other restaurants which feel more commercial!
