Wij zijn de Meesterslijpers. Een familiebedrijf met een kookwinkel in Amsterdam. In de 40 jaar dat onze winkel bestaat zijn we uitgegroeid van slijperij naar volwaardige kookwinkel en graveerstudio. Goede producten, betaalbare prijzen, kennis van alle producten en eerlijk advies. Maar bovenal gewoon een gezellige winkel. Dus kom langs of bestel via de webshop. We maken het altijd persoonlijk.

Contrary to what my review might initially sound like, I'm positive about my shop experience there. I had looked for shops selling good frying pans on the Internet and came across their website. The website is very clean, well organised and filled with useful information to help you make a choice. The overall impression is that of a competent quality shop which to me conjures images of a clean, spacey physical store which I can easily overlook, navigate and find what I need. My mistake! ? Mind you, the shop is worth a visit, in particular if you like to visit markets and the like. This is one of the most crammed shops I've ever been in. The aisles are so narrow, you'll have to pass another person sideways. The shelves literally are filled from floor to (almost) ceiling and with no way to step back for distance in the small aisles, you can't get a proper overview. It's absolutely overwhelming. As we were unfortunately pressed for time, we ended up asking a staff member for help. The staff member was helpful and probably knowledgeable but not overly forthcoming. We had to keep asking for information like we were pulling it out and it did feel like a bit of disinterest on the part of the staff member. But maybe that's just me wanting a more engaged interaction, because we got what we wanted with the barebone of information and all gift-wrapped in the tiniest cashier cubicle, housing 3 staffs, I've ever seen. Please go there and do take your time.

I didn't want to enter such an enclosed, busy space in an epidemic, but the selection is great and we needed things for our new apartment. Got a Dutch-made electric kettle at a great discount for the display model, a US-made cast iron pan, and a German-made cutting board. Saw plenty of other things that would be handy to have, too.

It was valid for 30 days. I decided to purchase a 21cm Muneishi Aogami #2 Kiritsuke and blade protector. Unfortunately, the discount code didn't work, even though it was only 11 days old. I contacted Harmen at their customer service explaining the issue I was having. He immediately sent a new discount code that worked. Meesterslijpers are an old fashioned Dutch family business. Their customer service is top of the line. Thanks Meesterslijpers!

Z. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've ordered several Japanese knives from Meesterslijpers and all the products were in mint condition and have arrived in a very short period of time (usually 1-3 days) to North Germany, Hamburg and area. There was always a little additional surprise in the package or even a free item when purchased a bigger amount. Also, what Japanese knives concern, they are imo one of the most affordable in the whole EU and have the biggest range of Japanese knives. The same knives they sell cost here in Germany waaaay more. Oh yeah, and the Service is simply exceptional! If you have questions, they answer it, if you have special wishes, they try to fulfill it. To be honest, this is the first time I've dealt with Dutch service and I am positively surprised how exceptional it is! I would compare it to the level of Japanese service and that means something!

Went in the store and bought some knifes, later found out that they had a set discount on a couple of knifes I bought, so I called up explaining the situation. Now I getting the knifes I want with the discount and also letting my other knife engraved for free! This extra cash will be used to buy knife protectors so basically a win-win situation!
