This time I ordered fish of the day and it was perfect.
However, one waitress and barmen were extremely rude and unprofessional.
Service standard in Amsterdam is very average to low, however
I expected a bit better service here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have enjoyed every minute of our Friday evening at Mata Hari. The place is a hidden gem in the red light district. Such a gorgeous place, beautiful Art Deco interior details. Very Gatsby. Welcomed by the owner, friendly and professional staff, amazing cocktails, fine wine and a focussed and high quality food menu. Highly recommend the ricotta ravioli with lemon zest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place has been has been recently renovated. It’s done beautifully. The art deco interior is very cosy. The atmosphere is great and we started the evening with some well made gin tonics. The friendly owner toke time to explain the menu and gave some good advice about the wine selection. We had a fantastic evening! This is a highly recommend place to have a fine bottle of wine, good cocktails and a tasteful dinner. Located perfect in the hart of the Red light district.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here a few times in the last few months… first discovered by myself having a cheeky daytime snack and wine… very delicious starter of humous and bread. I dropped my phone in the canal and a whole adventure occurred, where some friendly locals encouraged and helped me to find the phone in the canal. The bar staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly … yes I did get the phone back after swimming and diving for 1 hour or so!
Came back for proper dinner recently and the food was incredible… the setting next to the canal is somehow super intimate and cozy despite being in the heard of the RLD.
Been here at night for cocktails too and it’s stunning interior atmosphere doesn’t fail to impress. I hope this place never changes!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a chic-cool restaurant located next to the red light district area. We visited on a rainy cold Friday night in November without a reservation and we’re lucky to get a nice table on the first floor. The staff members were super friendly. The food was also great. We had a seafood platter for two and a croquet plate with six pieces. Also, the wine and beer we had were good.
Overall, this is a place in a great location serving delicious food and drinks. This is one of those places we will definitely come back whenever we are in Amsterdam.
