Nobel Hotel Ameland - Gerrit Kosterweg 16

The hotel lies in the beautiful historic village of Ballum. The historic cafe has been extended with a stylish hotel and restaurant. The menu consist of up-to-date dishes for dinner and drink, all served by a very friendly staff

A nice place to enjoy a good cup of coffee and to have lunch. The service is terrific. The terrace is great. Their specialty is the local drink 'Nobeltje' which is a real recommendation and buyable in the liquor store next door 'Nobel slijterij'

We had a small lunch in Nobel. Because of the season it was rather quiet, but there was enough attention from the staff. The ambiance was local traditional but around the corner of the brown cafe it was very modern. Lunch was served fast and the food was fresh.

Review about the restaurant: - nice personnel, seemed genuinely friendly - felt the waiter seating us kind of pushed a bottle of water without giving me a real chance to think it over - I’m not that fast a decider but my thirsty son had already agreed and the waiter took the order without checking with me though I clearly was the one paying - ceviche starter was really good - both sons had a hamburger. One was good, the other one undercooked but the adolescent was too hungry to tell staff and wait for a redo - the boys were convinced the fries are the same as the ones at McDonalds but the latter are really hot which make them good - the staartstuk was excellent - the side salad was a shallow dish with different kinds of salad drowning in dressing (didn’t eat that) - I like giving my honest opinion about food when eating out as I think that’s only fair. Our reservations about the food were elegantly responded to with an offer for desert on the house. - the boys enjoyed a really delicious lava cake and I a crème brûlée - after finishing our desert two waiters came by to ask if we wanted a coffee or some water or something else. We didn’t, the kids were tired and wanted to go home. - we had to wait a long time before I was allowed to pay. Son 1 had already left. By that time I had let two waiters know I was ready to pay. The male waiter didn’t even look in our direction anymore. His female colleague upon hearing our request for the bill put her hand in her purse where I thought she’d miraculously take the bill but instead she took out a pack of cards and gave us these. It was the weirdest thing! Son 2 moved all the glasses to one side and told me to just keep my credit card on the table and try to cath a waiter’s eye. He left as well. In the end after a 10-15 minute wait I considered walking out but as I’m a responsible mom and citizen I don’t do that so I went over to one of the counters instead. On the way back to our place we agreed that this was an almost surreal experience where when it was clear they weren’t gonna sell us anything anymore they just lost interest which we all felt was pretty rude. All in all too expensive for what we got.

Hotel rooms could be refreshed but the restaurant and the service were very good. Delicious surprise menu and very good service during breakfast with some special attentions to take customer's needs into account. Also the location is ideal : easily reachable, in the middle of a typical pretty village and away from the touristical Nes.

Great food and very professional, hospitality of the staff that Incomperable to other hotel from experience. If I have chance in future to go to the island, I am pretty sure that I will stay same place. Thank you. I have a good memory of NL.

Lovely hotel, good location, great room, quiet, friendly, excellent food in the restaurant too.

Lovely location, the room was small but set up very smartly. I was particularly impressed with the clever way the staff looked after us during the lockdown. The meal & aperitif service was ingenious and thoroughly enjoyed at our own private table. Very nice stay.
