★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The glass windows of their boats means you don't get wet when it rains but also means you can't take any pictures due to the rain drops on the glass. Their headphone system was out of sync with the route so it kept referring to buildings that weren't there which was confusing. The driver managed to scrape a bridge wall which gave everyone a wake up jolt and that was the most exciting part of the tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the Amsterdam Light festival departure from Leidsekade on Saturday the 16th of December at 18:30. Hire another captain!! I Believe his now was Erik, he was rude, abrasive and completely indecent towards me and my family. We asked (we were with children) if we could bring a small snack on board (because we were with a 4 years old and a 6-year-old and it was dinner time) 2 young folks helping with the boarding, and they said yes. As long as we were mindful of spillage (like French fries with mayo) and drink with a tab on it (no open glasses). We left and went to buy some snacks for the kids and Erik, the captain felt the need to share 3 times (after we told him that we would not eat the food) that if we would be he would stop the boat, wherever we were, and threatened to put us out. We were reasonable people, who spoke calm, asked for permission in advance, and complied with your rules, we paid 63 euro for the tour and it was the WORST start. The rest of the tour we did not enjoy because of his rudeness…the tone was set and the night was gone. Thank you Erik.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1h 55 minutes instead of 1 hour trip. All the time sitting in the dark to see the light festival which turned out to be a couple of boring shapes that you can see better from around the canals
The boats are overcrowded and you can't see anything if you not sitting next to a window

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The light festival tour is a real let down. Together with an uninspired captain which seemed to be slightly depressive... this is not worth the €19. The light sculptures are nice, but not very impressive. It's not the most interesting route as a lot of interesting buildings are missed out on and only a tiny bit of information is given about what the captain seems to find interesting himself (ships and cheap restaurants). The captain apparently had some problems with making right turns as well, as he rammed a bridge pretty hard. I don't recommend the light festival tour and would choose the normal tour by daylight instead.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very expensive but had a fun ride.
We did the light festival tour which is basically the normal tour combined with info about the lights in English. Other languages are only available for the parts not about the lights.
You get free earplugs which we all agreed are not very comfortable.
The captain was a good guy he went faster or slower so other boats wouldn't block our view.
So the downsides were: high price, uncomfortable earplugs and too many people at 1 table(6)
Some people also need to understand you should NOT flash while taking pictures when it's dark, it'll only take the inside of the boat instead of the outside plus it's annoying for others :p

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really enjoyable if a touch cramped, very relaxed little cruise. You really do see a different side of Amsterdam, and probably was our favourite part of our weekend trip. I can't compare it to other boat cruises of course, or the fun of hiring your own, but I'd have no issue recommending this cruise as great value. Bring your own refreshments though...
