Amsterdam's third biggest station, located on the west side of the city. Recently renovated, sloterdijk is a modern, well connected station. It's also home to most of the long range bus services to Belgium, Germany etc. Also connected to Amsterdam's metro network.

In my 5 day stay in Amsterdam, I frequently got to this station to get around because its near the hotel I'm staying. You will have to pay if you want to go to the toilet -- the same for all places in the Netherlands, I guess. Lots of friendly people who can speak English, so its not a trouble if you're a tourist.

Quite under informative, busses, trains and public transport from same place leads to lot of confusion. Better signs and marking could make the place better

Good station on the outskirts of Amsterdam. It has frequent train services to Amsterdam central station and Schiphol Airport, as well as trains out to Haarlem and The Hague. It is also a tram terminus, bus station, and metro station which mostly serve the western side of the city. The station is quite large. Note that busses and trams are outside to the rear of the station, whilst the metro is inside the station but unusually is on the top level. To add confusion, platforms 10 and 11 are in a separate building a couple minutes walk from the main building. Signage is generally quite good, there are plenty of departure displays and directions round the station. The only thing missing is that the metro signs only mention line 50, despite the same platform also being served by line 51. There are escalators and lifts, but currently the single elevator that connects to the metro platform is out of order so accessibility is not great right now if you want to ride the metro. The station has a number of small shops, as well as a manned ticket office and information desk if you require some help.
