Van brouwerij De Ridder naar Stadsbrouwerij Maastricht was slechts een kleine stap voor de ondernemers Charles van Goch en Tom de Lepper, maar een grote stap voor bierbrouwend Maastricht. In 2018 startten de twee op het brouwerijterrein van De Ridder aan de Oeverwal in Maastricht een proeflokaal met een eigen microbrouwerij. Een ding stond vast: hét Maltezer bier moest terugkomen. Tijdens de opstart kwamen Maastrichtenaren en bierliefhebbers uit Nederland en België al informeren: “Komt hét speciaalbier van Maastricht weer terug?” Bewijs voor Van Goch en De Lepper dat hun zet een gouden was: Maastricht en omgeving smachtten naar bierhistorie in een smakelijk glas.

Even had a small chat with the main brewer and where he got his ideas from. Good beers all over the board and some out of the ordinary which surly spiced it up.

You can sit outside near the river and have a view of the water or inside. We sat outside then it started heavily raining so we went into the back room, it was very cozy and had a nice atmosphere. We only had beers which were all very tasty ? The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would go again and check out the food too

We got harassed by a group of males (e.g. they secretely took pictures of our butts) and the restaurant tolerated their behavior and offered no support. As the place seems to be mostly frequented by male groups and the restaurant staff turns a blind eye on tricky situations, I can simply not recommend going there, even though the burgers and the beer were great.
