★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Deze imposante gedenknaald van 15 meter hoog staat aan de Lange Voorhout ter nagedachtenis aan Karel Bernard Hertog van Saxen-Weimar (1792-1862) die sinds de Slag bij Waterloo in 1815 in Nederlandse dienst streed. Het monument was in 1864 opgericht en heeft de vorm van een 8-zijdige obelisk van steen die op een hardstenen plateau staat omringd door achtkantige paaltjes met dikke smeedijzeren kettingen. De wapentrofee die boven de zuil staat is van brons en ook de beeltenis van de Hertog. Dit monument is omringd door monumentale hoge bomen en fraaie en statige panden en huizen en diverse culturele instellingen op Lange Voorhout.
 This imposing 15 meter high commemorative needle is located on the Lange Voorhout in memory of Karel Bernard Hertog van Saxen-Weimar (1792-1862) who fought in Dutch service since the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The monument was erected in 1864 and is in the form of an 8-sided stone obelisk standing on a bluestone plateau surrounded by octagonal posts with thick wrought iron chains. The weapon trophy above the column is made of bronze and also the effigy of the Duke. This monument is surrounded by monumental tall trees and beautiful and stately buildings and houses and various cultural institutions on Lange Voorhout.
