★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a very special and popular experience. Historic steam trains running between Hoorn and Medemblik. Everything is geared to make the travel on the steam trains as historically authentic as possible.
The trip with the steam train from Hoorn to Medemblik can be used in combination with a connecting trip on a former ferryboat, traveling between Medemblik and Enkhuizen. A normal train service between Hoorn and Enkhuizen completes the triangle.
Not cheap but highly recommended for tourists with a spare day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I got off the plane at Schiphol airport, stored our luggage at Amsterdam Centraal, took the train and went straight to catch the ferry at Enkhuizen to Medemblik. It was a bright sunny day in the summer. The staff was nice. The view is just spectacular. The breeze is calming but at times it can get a little cold. The interior cabin is large and light refreshment is served and there are souvenirs for sale. We then took the steam tram to Hoorn which was also interesting and relaxing. I could have given the whole journey 10 stars if I could.
