β β β β β Definitely NOT a good experience. Slow staff, our main dish took too long to arrive (more than 1 hour). Rice noodles were too sweet and with a bad aspect/presentation. And in the end, the establishment did not accepted cards (pin/debit or credit). We were seated outside and it was not visible that we could only pay with cash. Do not recommend.

β β β β β Just two weeks after coming back from Thailand I ended up eating at a Thai restaurant in Amsterdam. In my mind I already imagined a boring dinner with the same old Thai food, but I must admit, this place came to surprise me. The Pad Thai with shrimp was not only delicious, but also probably the biggest Pad Thai dish that I ever had.

β β β β β What happened?
This used to be my favorite neighborhood Thai restaurant! 5+ plus! I donβt know what happened though (covid times?) but the last couple of times I ordered here things did not work out and the service wasnβt great: misunderstanding or not listening on the phone, getting the wrong order, literally scooping out chicken when I clearly ordered vegetarian (thatβs a big no no! The chefs did get reprimanded for this but then they lied about getting my order wrong), getting shrimp instead of chicken etc. What a shame! Itβs still βso soβ but mostly because of the strong sauce flavor (sugar?).. but last night I ordered red veg curry and asked for extra vegetables (because I feel like they used to be so generous with this, one of the reasons I loved it here, and now theyβre skimping frβ¦). I basically got red curry oil soup with tofu (which was nice and soft) and some bamboo and pepper β¦but not even one Thai eggplant in there as stated on the menu! No extra vegetables let alone regular vegetables. I was so sad :(
I go there all the time but Iβm going to look for another Thai place now. Too bad. You lost a loyal happy customer!

β β β β β Very nice, tiny restaurant. We had great seats outside. Food is very nice.
All dishes could be changed a bit, as we had some vegetarians amount us. The staff is very friendly, and can help you with a good choice in food.
The place is very clean. They don't accept plastic money.
Just outside the center it is on a nice square, not overrun by tourists.

β β β β β I used to consider Thaicoon one of the better Thai restaurants in Amsterdam but after today,Β no longer. The Moo pad phed in our delivery order was swimming in oil and so salty as to be inedible. The base paste used for flavouring the dish hadn't been mixed in properly leading to lumps of salty-spicy paste throughout the dish. The pad Thai dish was also extremely greasy with a pool of oil gathered at the bottom. Portion sizes were large, but that's no bonus when the food tastes like this.Β Β The restaurant also forgot to include the drink we ordered with the delivery. All in all, very disappointing ?

β β β β β We used to go to this restaurant when we lived in Amsterdam Oost and it was one of the best Thai restaurants back then. Yesterday we ordered food take away and it was horrible, all dishes were like a soup, no taste, only small pieces of chicken and 90% vegetables. Total waste of money! Please donβt go/order food at this restaurant! Also prices are not that cheap. Maybe different owner?

β β β β β I asked the waiter if they had WiFi, he told me no. Then I searched and found the Thaicoon WiFi. I asked why he said they didn't have, he said it was because it doesn't work, but I logged on anyway and it worked. The food was average with some of the veg not fresh at all with rotten parts. Loads of oil instead of sauce. The 3 chillies spice level was very mild for Thai food. The starter soup was not pipping hot ?. They sell a small glass of water for β¬2.75 without showing/bringing the water bottle, you don't know if you're being served tap water. Customer service was poor, have to ask things twice or more. Paid by cash and the waiter did not return with my change (though very small) for over 7min. When I went inside to use the toilet, he was carrying on with other tasks, he saw me and still did not offer my change. He has basically decided to tip himself or keep my change, presumptuously. More room for improvement.

β β β β β Big sizes and delicious fried rice dishes. The soup with prawns and coconut milk is one of the best soups I've tasted. Definitely a 5/5 and for sure I'll visit again. Very polite and friendly staff.
