The Rijksmuseum Cafe is located in the main foyer near the museum entrance just above the main gift shop. It is one of several food and drink opportunities within the museum but the most convenient for pre or post museum meal stops. Opening hours are 9am to 6pm and you don't have to have museum entry tickets to eat here. We stopped here at the beginning of our visit to the Rijks recently, arriving about noon. The Cafe was relatively full but we were able to grab space along a long communal table. Service was attentive enough given the relatively busy time. Menu is a fair mix of breakfast, lunch, afternoon desserts and other snack food times along with an expected cafe drink list. During our visit we found the pastrami sandwich that was pretty good and the foie gras with brioche served with greens to be was good enough. Coffees were just fine this time around. Overall, not stellar food of coffee drinks but just fine for a museum cafe. We'd have no problem stopping here again for a pre or post museum visit.

The good: online order system. The bad: 30 min in waiting line + 40 min order awaiting makes it pointless to visit. It's just a cafe in museum, not a Michelin guide restaurant. The neutral: the food.

Great way to send some time after seeing all the masters. The line wasn’t to bad to enter, wait staff was friendly and professional. The food was good, but tiny portions for the $$.

We only stopped for a coffee. It was good, the staff was friendly and attentive. The pastries looked good too, unfortunately we were in a rush. It is quite intimidating to have a break in a place with such an high ceiling.

This is a good option to grab a snack when inside the museum. There is usually a wait outside but it goes by pretty quickly. The service is a bit slow but the food is nice.

If you are not hungry, avoid this place. Firstly, you have to stay in a long line for covid certificate check to be seated. You can see lots of free places. It looks like they do not have time to clean up tables. Secondly, you will get your coffee cold, and I do hate being served cold coffee. By the looks of it, cappuccino was left for a long time after it was made and before it was served. Also, you pay in advance before your food comes, so you cannot refuse to pay for food or drinks you don't like. Thirdly, there were people who ordered a lot later then us, but, they were served food before I got my cold coffee.

Coffee and cake came ong time before salad. Cesar salad made with chicken thigh with skin. Not chicken breast. Bad for calorie control. And yes I read that they dont clean the table , SO TRUE ! They bring you to the table before cleaning and you re tire after walking in the museum of course you sit when they bring you to the table. But if you re seated they assume that the table is clean and whatever on it belongs to you ( see the bottle next to my meal and a drop on the table , and some crumbles , they are from the last person ) . And of course salad was long , and coffee was cold. I asked for reheat. They took it away and forgot about me until I finished my cake and called a waitress to remind her . And you need to scan the code on the table to order online. They dont do hand order . BUT the app online didn't work on the cake. ( verified by the waitress ) so they did it the traditional way. Over all it's a waste of time. A Cesar salad , a latte, an apple pie 24.5 euros . I guess if you re from Paris or London. This is not expensive.

I was stunned by the quality of the food and service (and humour!) here. Rum with hot chocolate? Sign me up! And the pumpkin soup had a drizzle of Szechuan peppercorn oil that really lifted an already flavourful base. Definitely make a pit stop! And the coffee was good too
