★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Turistic vilage. Lots of shop and suveniers. Good for coffe. For lunch take fish in bufet quick and cheep. After 2 hours starting to be boring and better continue to next place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice authentic dutch coastal village to wander around and explore, visit the volendam experience museum first to appreciate some of its history.
It can be a bit busy during the summer months.
There is a bus from amsterdam central station which takes approx 30 minutes.

Facing harbour/jetty, this place has remarkable tradition of beautifying front windows/courtyards of the houses and there is healthy competition about it among the local residents here. Have a walk through, one will find tastefully decorated, with or without flowers, the front of the houses. The landmark property Visafslag has quiet a commercial activity area around, gift/souvenirs shops, eateries/restaurants-especially reasonably priced sea food, cheese making/selling units, pubs.... frequented by both tourists and locals. The location is quiet scenic, blend of nature and man made things in harmony.... worth visiting.
