★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely place.You can rent a boat there and make a trip around the village.Or you can pay for someone who can be your captain?Also possible to go by walk...Anyway there is a beautiful enviroment to take a nice day...Lot of restaurants are there.If you are in netherland then you have to see this place.I think is one of the best place to take a romantic day with your couple.It is a big car park there and it is free.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Giethoorn is a beautiful village with water canal and pathways for walking and biking. It falls in northwest side of Netherlands. It is about 44 km from Zwolle the nearest big city. One can reach the place by public transport by bus or own car. There are parking places. One can rent a boat or canoe - self driven - either battery operated or diesel engine driven or even by manual rowing. There are water ways marked and you get a map when you rent a boat. It is an wonderful experience to drive a boat through small canals. You reach a big lake at the end before you complete the circle. May June is right time to visit. Many restaurants and souvenir shops around. One can just walk along the canal too. People try to call it as Venice of Netherlands, but calling it as Venice is bit too far fetching. Very nice houses along the canal. In peak winter the canal gets frozen and one can ski as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place ,takes you back in time..feel free to wonder around the canals. Walk across the canal and rent a small boat if it's possible.. great experience for couples and families. Especially if you visit the place during spring time everything becomes more vibrant.. beautiful!!
