About Zaans Museum
De rijke collectie van het Zaans Museum onthult Zaanse verhalen; de bewoners, hun leven en werken, de vele innovaties en het industrieel erfgoed.
De collectie komt voort uit de tentoonstelling Zaanlandsche oudheden en merkwaardigheden die in 1874 plaatsvond in het toenmalige stadhuis van Zaandam en resulteerde in de oprichting van de oudheidkamer van Zaandijk. In 1998 verhuisde deze collectie als bruikleen naar het toen gebouwde Zaans Museum. Daarnaast startte het Zaans Museum met het aanleggen van een eigen collectie.
Het Zaans Museum verzamelt objecten uit en over de Zaanstreek van de 17de eeuw tot vandaag de dag. In de collectie bevinden zich ruim 32.000 voorwerpen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We got here a bit too late due to transport problems in Amsterdam. But we really enjoyed our short time here. It's such a cool little village, it's great to be able to see how life was back then. We particularly enjoyed the coopery. The gentleman who showed us around and told us about the old cooper was very friendly and knowledgeable. We would love to go back one day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great. You can learn how difficult the life been for dutch farmers and the role of the windmills in creating new lands gaining terrain from the sea. You can also buy chocolate and souvenirs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lots of info and artifacts to see. Too bad the Monet was off being evaluated. I hope they are able to display it again soon. Very interesting in the Verkade display building at the end of the museum. Don't know if I will go again, but I am glad I went ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All kind of windmills from Holland. One big museum about 'Verkade' and a brand new museum at the end of the route (the black building). Great demonstrations! One flaw is that the pedestrian path (the main route) is way too small (in COVID time more than ever).
