110% glad we did this. We are adventurous people so I wasn't sure how valuable the food tour would be. I was wonderfully rewarded in many ways. We went several places I wouldn't have thought to go, we walked right in to reserved tables with food ready for us at each location, and we got to hear the history and cultural background of each food and drink we tasted. (All things that you won't get if you take yourself around on a food tour.) Other non-food things I loved: Small group of just 8 people. Our guide Thijs was upbeat and jovial, nice to everyone on tour (especially my ten year old) and answered every question with kindness no matter how off-the-wall. He made sure each of us was involved and comfortable. On a four hour tour we were stopped 3 or 4 times on the street by people saying hello and joking with Thijs, and every shopkeeper seemed genuinely happy to see him (and us), so it seems to me he is well liked and respected around town which was a nice thing to think about our fearless leader. He was quite thoroughly knowledgeable about Dutch history and tied a lot of things together for us. We learned a few non-food related tidbits. For example, we pulled up a cup of water from the canal and heard about canal history and water cleanliness. Overall we were very well informed, fed and watered (read: fat and happy) and I feel we definitely got our money's worth. Thank you, Thijs, for such a fabulous first day in Amsterdam. It was a perfect orientation tour. PS for Thijs: We did go swimming next day in the Amstel where you recommended! Unforgettable.

This was the best food tour I have ever been on. The man who runs these tours is definitely in the right business. He has small groups and makes you feel like it’s one on one. He is genuine and takes an interest in each and every person on his tour. We brought our small children and he was AMAZING at accommodating us. He even watched them during the wine tasting taking them next door to get ice cream. I cannot recommend this tour enough especially for those with families who are reluctant to take food tours. This one will not disappoint!

Amsterdam Food Tours was a wonderful experience! We were able to book a private tour with just the details we wanted and our guide, Rudolph was wonderful!

Our group of 12 took a food tour with Amsterdam Food Tours in in September of 2021. It was beyond amazing. Thijs , the owner of the company was wonderful. In addition to the food tour Thijs arranged for our group a private dinner cruise on the canals, a walking tour of Amsterdam, a tour guide for the Rijks Museum and Jewish / WWII tour prior to our entering the Anne Frank Museum. He also made some reservations for us at some excellent restaurants which he had recommended. I cannot say enough good things about Thijs and his Company.

Thijs was awesome, what a great guide to the Jordaan area of Amsterdam. This was one of our favorite food tours and we have done food tours in many different cities - one our favorite things to do when we travel. There was a great mix of local history, fun stories, and yummy food. Best of all it was paced well. As a result we were able to enjoy everything we tried without getting too full. I won’t ruin things by giving away what kinds of food we enjoyed but there was a great mix of savory, sweet, and great beverages in between. Do this tour, you will be thanking yourself after. :-)

Enjoyable 4 hours exploring the Joordaan area of Amsterdam. Quality of food was really great and plentiful. Rudolph is a good guy and full of knowledge and stories about the area. Although we live in Netherlands, the experience was still unique, informative and enjoyable. Thank you Paul & Chloe

ABSOLUTELY worth the price! The tour felt personalized to us, as many more things were added during the tour, based on what he thought we would like. We went on a Saturday when the farmers market was happening, which was fantastic. So much great food! We did not eat breakfast before showing up, which turned out to be a good idea; our fellow breakfast-eating tour mates got full fast, but my partner and I were able to enjoy everything the entire time. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Amsterdam, and I would absolutely take the tour again the next time I visit.

Thijs led myself, 3 friends, and two other couples on a great tour of the Jordaan. The tour took more than 4 hours but felt like the perfect length, and we had a really fun time tasting lots of great food and drink. Apple pie, coffee/tea, herring, smoked eel, fried cod, cheese, sausage, Indonesian bites, winter (pea) soup, stroopwafels, beer/wine, bitterballen, and probably something I'm forgetting were all included on the tour. Thijs is so knowledgeable about the history of the city and was just a super fun guy to hang out with. Our group was still talking about him days later and wishing we could hang out and have another beer with him. Highly recommended.
