We stayed in the hotel for 1 night and arrived quite late but were warmly welcomed with a glass of prosecco in the bar. We booked a basic room but were upgraded to a better room on arrival. Not sure what type of room we were upgraded to but it was very clean, very cozy and very clean. The room had a waterside terrace which was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and had everything we wanted (many organic food options). The breakfast room was quiet and the service was quick and very friendly. We rented a boat for a full day and asked for a picknick basket which included cookies, sandwiches, a small bottle of prosecco and some fruit. The boat itself was very clean, in perfect condition and turned out to be (marginally) faster than any other boat we saw during the entire day, which is always nice :). We received some information on how to work with the boat and a handy map which showed 4 boat routes. We took all 4 routes for a total of about 25km throughout the day and it was awesome! The hotel itself is quite far from the Giethoorn center, but because we started our day-long boat trip from the small dock behind the hotel this was no issue for us. It's a 5min boat trip to the nearest boat route. Overall, a great experience and would definitely recommend. Show less Room Tip: The 3 rooms at the back have a private waterside terrace

The worst experience of my life! Rude! Not customer friendly ! Lack of professionalism! We have made and payed a booking three months before our arrival (via booking.com) This was supposed to be our honeymoon trip! Amsterdam and giethoorn. While we were in Amsterdam the day before our booking, the owner of the hotel called me and told me that they did a mistake and they don't have our room available for all the days we have booked ... but only for the first one. They probably doublebooked or something the same room I still don't know ... But they told us that they will see what they can do ... same day at midnight they send me an email and tell me that they don't have a room for us except the first day. Of course I saw it in the next morning at 8:30 and immediately contacted booking.com ... they called the hotel and while I was on hold, spoke with them and told them that it was ok now for us to stay there ... So we went there just to find out that they wanted us to stay for one night there and the other night to some other place. The worst part was that they tried to put the blame on us, they didn't accept their mistake while we were there ... it was totally fine to them to stay on some other place instead.... p.s. still don't know where! They never told us ... they just wanted us to check in first so they would get that day! At the time the manager a.k.a. chef a.k.a. booking handler was busy in the kitchen and couldn't come to speak to us ... ! Of course we called booking.com at that time and tried to figure out if was part of the deal with them ... Of course it wasn't... Booking.com wanted to speak with them so finally we handed the phone to the owner of the place and after the call with the most hideous way in front of all the people there, told us that we are not welcome anymore to that hotel anymore! Why the heck we didn't want to stay to somewhere else the next day they wondered....? (Owners words to booking.com assistant on the phone.... ) Off course booking.com helped us with all that s***t and we stayed to another hotel. - 5 by us!

Great rooms , amazing location. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, they went beyond what I would expect. We had to leave for our flight at 3 am , they organised a terrific box breakfast for me and my wife without us asking . It shows the really consider the needs of their costumers.

Wonderful service, friendly family Hotel. Dinner and breakfast are supreme. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable

We had a great stay here - having booked quite late Roelie and the team were very accommodating - our stay included a 3-course meal which was great (and very generous portions!) We had hoped to hire a boat but the weather wasn't great: Roelie very kindly contacted a local boat operator and we were able to enjoy the sights of Giethoorn in a covered boat - she even gave us a lift to the pick-up point! Would highly recommend for a weekend away!
