★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Happy Italy in Tilburg is great, but this place in Rotterdam didn't deliver on our expectations.
The pasta was one big slush with the saus. Probably overcooked. The taste was good for the first few scoops, but then it becomes repetitive and intense.
But we had a nice coincidental talk with the manager on our way out, who noticed this as well. Starting next year there would be a great overhaul... I hope it delivers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The pasta is overcooked and the portion sizes are way too big for one person (this probably goes for all the Happy Italy restaurants since it's a chain). At the Rotterdam restaurant the layout doesn't really make sense; went there with my friend who had her baby and the carriage with her and the family section is downstairs, but no elevator is available, so you'd have to carry the carriage with you downstairs. We chose to stay on groundfloor for the convenience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The price is the most attractive thing about this restaurant but price can't buy quality. The pasta is just average, mashed spaghetti with great portions. If you want a full belly then this is where you should go. Service is quite average, the waiters are so nonchalant. They tell you they will be back to help but end up doing something else. They lack focus. Nevertheless, the waiting time for the food is quite fast. They should also get an airco in the summer, it's too hot inside. Cheap Italian food for a good price.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ About the food: The vegan pizza had way too much vegan cheese on it, it was actually nauseating. Scraped off the bulk of it and even then could only stomach 2 slices. Can not recommend it.
The waiters are.. interesting. It took about 20 minutes before they asked if we wanted drinks, but they did put some extra effort into cleaning the table, which was nice!
Sadly we were ignored during our meal, no one asking how the food was or if we wanted more drinks. This was at about 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday, it wasn't even busy.
Overall not a great experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The prices here are good the food comes really quickly and the wait staff are good. There is also a child play area. This isn’t some place that offers a culinary experience that will blow your mind but for a family evening this place is fantastic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect example of: you get what you pay for. Definitely one of the most affordable places serving Italian cuisine. The food is quite tasty, but don’t expect wonders. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is very conveniently located. What is not acceptable is the lack of cleanliness, e.g. the glass I received was quite dirty.
