β β β β β My favorite place in the Netherlands. Ermelo, the stables nearby and trails for biking and walking make the Bonaparte with it's wonderful staff and excellent fare a great find in an otherwise suburban setting on the edge of the forest. The cappuccinos are highly recommended. Great service and servers every visit during my week stay.

β β β β β Came here twice during our stay in a nearby vacation home. First night the restaurant was pretty packed and we didn't have a reservation. Luckily a table just got free and we sat down in the outside (covered) section with heaters - it was cold and rainy. But with the heaters it was very comfy.
The menu is interesting and has something for everybody. First night we went for the soup of the day and the carpaccio. Both very good items. Nice raw beef, fresh and tender. And the soup was great. Rich, creamy, hot.
For the main we got the Surf & Turf and the Opera Bonaparte (chopped steak and chicken liver). The beef was ok, but not of the highest steak quality. But with the sauce still a good meal. Chicken liver was nice. The main dishes come with a big load of included side dishes: salad, cauliflower, potato wedges and fries.
Second night we went for Champignons Bonaparte (fried champignon mushrooms) and the tomato soup. The soup was fantastic again.
For the main we've had the pork filet and the chicken skewer. Both with the included side dishes again. Compared to the first night these two items were less exciting, but still enjoyable.
All in all it's of course not Haute Cuisine here. But it's nicely made comfort food for fair prices. And the soups are really excellent. And the atmosphere and the really wonderful staff still gets this place a four-star rating. We enjoyed our dinners here very much. And: Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Parking is free and right out front.
