About Spaghetteria Wittevrouwensingel
In Italië is het begrip spaghetteria een op zichzelf staand fenomeen. Een plek waar lokale chefs niets anders doen dan het bereiden van verse pasta. Bij Spaghetteria is dit niet anders. Ook wij wijden ons aan de kunst van het pasta maken. Dat doen we in ons eigen laboratorio artigianale, een ambachtelijke werkplaats waar we geheel volgens de traditie van het Italiaanse pastagilde verschillende soorten pasta’s maken. Elk met zijn eigen vorm, oorsprong en bereidingswijze.
’s Avonds bereiden onze Italiaanse chefs de dagverse pasta in zes verschillende gerechten op het dagelijks wisselende menu. Zoals ze dat hun leven lang al gewend zijn. Uit de pannen komen gerechten die recht voor hun raap zijn en hun oorsprong vinden in traditionele receptuur op basis van verse producten. Gerechten zoals ze in de spaghetterie van Italië zelf ook worden opgediend. Vol smaak en zonder poespas.
Deze onbevangen manier van koken weerspiegelt zich ook in de bediening en sfeer van Spaghetteria. Met enthousiasme, gastvrijheid en een tikkeltje Italiaanse branie serveren jonge mensen de gerechten uit in een levendige omgeving. Of je nu urenlang wilt tafelen of zin hebt in een snelle, smaakvolle maaltijd, iedereen schuift bij elkaar aan. Aan een van de grote tafels of aan een hoge bar. En na het eten is er altijd nog tijd voor een tiramisù met een espresso of een huisgemaakte sgroppino of limoncello.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yes, It's ok. I think most pasta chain places can never really be good. It's just not how it should be done. Vapiano, for example, is somewhat tasty but it feels like eating inside of a vending machine.
Spaghetteria is not a vending machine, considering it took about 1-1.5 hours to get the food, which is too much. When it arrived it wasn't something that felt it would take this long time to make. On the other hand, a ragu should be cooked for long time, so, it was almost as if they were making it a la minute... ;) Overall, It was a bit too much fat in the food for my taste, which felt like a compensation to hide something. And at least we could have gotten some bread while waiting - it's a very easy trick to seem like a genuine Italian place. Instead, here the bread comes pre-cut in fixed sizes. I hate that.
I guess the most genuine part was the kids serving food. They ran around like excited and disoriented Italian kids on a beach promenade around a vespa. Fast, happy and they probably know their job, they just need some work on their timing and presence.
It is absolutely not the worst, it's tasty, but far from the best. If it would have been 5-10 Euro cheaper, it would be more accurate and I would consider a 4 star.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fun pasta place with limited menu but good food. I believe the menu changes often and uses in season ingredients. Pasta comes with a slice of bread. It is communal seating so be prepared. It is also very busy.

-Spaghetti al nero con ragu di capesante
Had to say that the Ravioli is the tastiest with its mushroom interior but the portion was pretty low.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unremarkable pasta. We had the gnocchi and the pasta with ragout. Both gnocchi pasta was okay but ragout was disappointing. The ragout sauce has no flavour and was bland. The bread that comes with the pasta is good though. So are the wines.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my favorite casual dinner spots in Utrecht. Also one of the last places to still have sun in the evening!
The menu is affordable and simple, with a couple of pasta dishes to choose from. I’ve tasted a lot of different ones and they’re all flavorful, with generous portions. The bread on the side is so, so soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside. They have a rotating menu, but if they have it I can highly recommend the pasta with coquilles and zucchini .
They also have a selection of wines, starters sides and desserts that can level up your dinner from quick and casual to special and fancy. As the Dutch say: “gezellig borrelen.”
As far as I know it is not possible to make reservations at this location, but it’s definitely worth walking up and and just asking if there’s space! The service is great.
