For example, at Praxis, I can be walking around the store for awhile getting someone to help me, and when I ask a question, they seem annoyed that I want to buy something from them. At Stadsbouwmarkt, Peter (I believe that's his name) helps me asap when I have a question. Also I've found the prices to be slightly cheaper than Praxis.
Has a more local feel with better prices and better customer service-- win win!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A fantastic hardware store in Oud-West. A classic small business, family owned type place. They have a lot of things in this store. I find more here than the chain store around the corner.
They even have nice little garden, paint and lumber sections.
