About Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam - Amstel

Het nieuwe Van der Valk Hotel wordt gerund door Thymen en Lucie Simons-Luiten, vierde generatie familie Van der Valk. Zij werken al jaren met plezier voor het familiebedrijf en waren sinds 2008 verantwoordelijk voor het Duitse Van der Valk Hotel Melle-Osnabrück.

Die zin is onlosmakelijk verbonden met familie Van der Valk. Nicolaas van der Valk, vader van 24 kinderen, kocht de gronden van De Gouden Leeuw in Voorschoten in 1862 voor 4000 gulden op een veiling in het Wapen van Voorschoten. Jongste zoon Martinus, geboren in 1895, maakte van De Gouden Leeuw een cafΓ© en bouwde dit uit tot cafΓ© - restaurant. Martinus en zijn vrouw Rie streefden er met hun ondernemersdrift naar om voor ieder van hun elf kinderen een eigen zaak te verwezenlijken. En met succes. 

Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants bestaat nu ruim 80 jaar. In totaal heeft het familiebedrijf bijna 100 hotels in Nederland, België, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Spanje en de Nederlandse Antillen. “Door steeds te vernieuwen maken we comfort toegankelijk. Good hotel with wellness area provided. There is a swimming pool including a spa and sauna as well as waxing services. Very varied breakfast and good wine bar. Comfortable rooms with luxurios chairs.

Hotel is center near and is easy to find. Room in the 10th floor with view into Amsterdam center. Room has a lovely design and is super cozy. Wellness area looks great and has relaxing vibes. Staff is very friendly, polite and speaks fluently english. Breakfast is a highlight and offers everything we could think of. Parkdecks a safe and clean. Would like to come again.

Fantastic hotel! We really enjoyed our stay in Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam Amstel. We received a very friendly welcome. The hotel also has a spacious parking which is a lot cheaper than parking in the centre of Amsterdam. Our room was very nice and spacious. A good, nice bathroom, separate toilet, beautiful view,... Perfect! The hotel bar is also highly recommended. The bar is very cosy and the staff is super friendly. We really enjoyed the 'borrelplank'! We also had two dinners in the Amstelle restaurant. We can definitely recommend this too. Great food in again a very beautiful setting. Finally, nothing but praise about the breakfast: extensive, fresh, good quality and very tasty. We definitely recommend this hotel for a visit to Amsterdam. The metro station Overamstel is a good 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We will definitely choose this hotel again when visiting Amsterdam!

I wanted to go to this hotel with my wife in December to spend a few days in Holland and booked a room for 550 euros approximately. Unfortunately, the Dutch government had imposed a lockdown and we did not go on holiday logically. The hotel was informed on my part that I will not arrive, although I have booked a non-cancellable rate, the hotel showed goodwill and I was allowed to make a reservation until the end of February out of goodwill. Unfortunately, the lockdown went until then. And I myself also fell ill with the virus and technically I did not manage to take time off before. I asked the hotel again for a reservation and if they could accommodate me a little out of goodwill. I didn't want my money back I wanted to go back to this hotel where by the way many friends and family of mine go. I have received from the hotel management only an email where it says that I see on the homepage the prices. and that they can't help me because I booked a non-cancellable rate. I know what I have booked but I think that in the pandemic time fairness and goodwill for a hotel should be self-evident. we are not talking about 100 euros but about 550!!! Very bad that they didn't even want to give me 10 or 20, 30% discount. although they bagged 550 of me for nothing. but I know money rules the world. thank you very much for nothing. Lovely interior, great staff, awesome wellness area and a great bed. Not to mention the bar is worth visiting. The city is very accessible via metro and you don't pay am arm and a leg to stay in Amsterdam. Highly recommend!

This hotel is superb! Been there for three days and everything was perfect! Camera design and comforts are super. Things i love are: - you can listen your mobile music in rooms stereo player - rechargeable shelf - you can order a pizza from hotel kitchen 24h/7 and eat it in your room - super comfy bedroom. The only things I recommend to change is the tv. I do not understand Dutch at all and it’d be super nice to link my phone or Amazon to tv in order to let me see something understandable ? But anyway! I love this place!

Fabulous Hotel. Chic, away from the bustle, yet so close to Tube. Fantastic Pool and Spa. Amazing restaurant . Great staff.All night room service pizza ,WOW!! Fantastic value for money. I will return.

I am really disappointed in this hotel and their customer service. We booked this trip back in 2020 for my parents anniversary. We paid 1040€ for 4 nights including with breakfast. As we all know global pandemic happened so we had to reschedule the booking multiple times. When my parents arrived in the hotel, finally in 2022 for their late anniversary celebration, the staff told them that no breakfast is included anymore. I spoke to the manager – Kelly van Parera – unfortunately she would keep interrupting me when I would explain the situation and her tone wasn’t friendly at all. I showed the confirmation from booking.com from 2020 which clearly says its included with breakfast but she wouldn’t recognize that point. Her point of view was that because we changed the booking multiple times, at some point we have agreed that it is without breakfast and that usually the booking wouldn’t be able to change the date at all but they did an exception for us. Which really surprised me to hear because a global pandemic happened…In my opinion even if it was -mistakenly - changed to without breakfast at some point, the price should be less, but it remained at the original 1040€ which we booked back in 2020 and paid for with breakfast. At the end of the day its not about the money or the breakfast for us but it is about how we were treated, that we were interrupted and the conversation wasn’t friendly at all. So, we are disappointed in the customer service of this hotel so wouldn’t go there again. Lastly also because the reception staff were really rude to my parents about this.
