Amsterdam Hospitality Check on Google
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On our way to the Eye we went to Babel for a quick meal. The people who work there are clearly not interested in their customers. Hospitality is not a hot item, I didn’t feel welcome for one second. I had a ramen with chicken and my partner had ramen with tuna. The menu said ‘pick your own topping and broth’, but the cook threw a few toppings in a bowl together with a broth without asking. It was a mystery to me why my partner received at least 50% more noodles. The broth was tasteless. The view is great though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coffee was awful. Fresh juices were sour or bitter. Chai tea was horrible, weak and milky like the coffee. All food and drinks were expensive as well. The view was nice on the balcony but honestly you can go to the balcony on the 7th floor and enjoy it without purchasing overpriced awful drinks. La place that was here previously with the same concept was a lot better and it was just ok. Next time i want a coffee at oba i will try the new ground floor cafe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible service. I ordered a chai tea from a young girl whose facial expression as she took the order was already one of total disinterest. I asked for non dairy milk and she practically sighed and asked her senior colleague to show her. She then presented me with an almost cold glass of tea. When I said it’s cold she said “No it’s not look the jug the tea was made in is warm” (!?) I asked my friend to check and she agreed it was almost cold. I requested the girl feel my glass and tell me how that would be considered hot. She continued to discuss it with me basically implying I was mistaken and blaming the machine and the soy milk. Her attitude was so unprofessional even for Amsterdam I was amazed. Eventually her colleague took over and gave me a proper hot tea. Would never recommend this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here twice now because it's close to work's, the burgers are average at best, the "sushirito" is just a regular sushi roll that is very over priced. If you do order it make sure to pay attention or the unmotivated staff will forget to put the fish in... Pro tip for the staff, clean the gross soy sauce bottles

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Babel was a great promise and improvement from the LaPlace restaurant that was here before and this restaurant offers perhaps the best view over Amsterdam’s old town in the entire city. But for the food: the quality has diminished gravely over the past couple of months and it wasn’t all too great to start out with. The machine made coffee is awfully poor and the milk foaming is done by staff not familiar with the barista craft. The ramen is quite ok but the sushi roll is an over greasy mayonnaise roll that falls apart even before reaching your chopsticks. The quality of all the food is highly dependent on the one who’s preparing. And at a chilly fifteen degrees it’s not a comfortable place to sit without a coat on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The ramen soup isn’t properly served. The noodles weren’t well cooked yet (still hard). It’s tasteless too. I’ve been there twice and had the same experience. Expensive meals, unfriendly staffs. Nobody even cares I was there waiting to be helped. They didn’t even say thank you after the payment is done, even no standard words like ‘enjoy your meals’ or a friendly smile. I won’t go back again. The one star is for the ambiance of the restaurant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The building is beautiful modern architecture. The food court/restaurant replaced what used to be La Place. Nicely designed with a cosy feeling. Try to get a seat outside if the weather permits. Gorgeous view of Amsterdam. A cost effective way for a roof top view instead of going to the Skybar in Doubletree.
A wide variety of food to choose from. Judging from other bad reviews, I played safe and choose the pizza. It's grilled in a stone grill kitchen adding some "burnt" flavor, which is a plus point. There are also halal options if you are concern about that. All in all, food was just normal taste.
Staff wasn't friendly but the view compensate for that. If you're not keen to eat, go there for coffee & cakes and enjoy the view.
