I experienced both good and a bad service. Initially, I spent more than a month just trying to make an appointment. The lady on the phone for customer service was extremely rude, unhelpful and condescending. I wasted more than a month because of her just to get an appointment. She blatantly ignored my doubts and questions, and did not do anything with my visa request. I did not get an appointment for 40 days. Later, when I tried calling after 40 days, a gentleman picked up the customer service line and finally booked an appointment for me. He was very fast, helpful and kind. After that, the process went quick. I am thankful to this gentleman on the customer service, and owe my visa to him. I would advice that during Corona, try calling again and maybe get a different and more helpful person on the line. Wasting precious time because of some unhelpful employees is not the answer.

space is way too small, still working with paper folders instead of databases, the person I talked to was very nice but given the size of the space I was forced to listen in on others talking and that sounded very rude. guess the pandemic didn’t help the situation: at first making an appointment was difficult, now I’ve been waiting for months already to change the address on my ID card but according to their website this is not possible due to technical issues. guessing that the fax machine broke down…

Considering the epidemic situation in the world, the process of making an appointment was great. They are super busy, but trying to help as much as they can. The Consulate was extremely nice in their communication: they replied quickly and politely in their emails, and even updated me when there were free slots in the system. I don't know why people could not reach them by phone, I succeeded every time (but only during working hours which was from 8:30 till lunch, or so). They also gave me useful tips and information over the phone, which helped a lot when signing for the appointment. I think this is the nicest Consulate experience in my life (and I've been to plenty of other Embassies and Consulates:).

Been trying to get an appointment for 6 months now. There are never any appointments free. My passport is about to expire and I feel helpless.

I can only agree with the other 1 star reviews here! What an upsetting experience when renewing my passport (this coming from being a German myself). Not only will you have to wait for half a year to finally get an appointment, but the staff is incredibly rude, their system is fairly backwards and overall very customer unfriendly. They will leave you hanging and have you run around in circles to make things difficult, despite admittedly being able to help you. They clearly prioritize bureaucracy over customers. It's time to catch up to 2021.

After reading the variety of experiences people had here I didn't expect much. But everyone was very lovely. (It did take forever to make an appointment, so beware and make sure you make them in time.) But everyone working in the consulate from the security to the government staff was very very kind and patient.

I didn't read a lot of positive reviews about this place, however things were fortunately done at godspeed for me. I guess it's really important to get a visa slot, after that the embassy takes care of everything seamlessly. I got my German visa in about a week's time.
