Eetcafé De Vingerhoed - Donkere Gaard 11
Eetcafé De Vingerhoed is te vinden op één van de mooiste plekjes van Utrecht, tussen het Wed en de Oude Gracht. Het staat al jaren bekend om de gezellige sfeer en de royaal gevulde borden. Tijdens de lunch kun je bij ons terecht voor diverse rijk belegde broodjes. Maar ook voor een goed glas wijn of een speciaal biertje ben je in De Vingerhoed van harte welkom.
De Vingerhoed is een bruin café met een lange geschiedenis. Zijn naam dankt het eetcafé aan de ‘shirtmaker’ die tot het begin van de twintigste eeuw in het monumentale pand gevestigd was. De lange toonbank, die nu dienst doet als bar, herinnert nog aan die tijd. Aan de achterkant kijkt het pand uit op de Oude Gracht. Aan de voorkant kun je op het (verwarmde) terras genieten van de gezellige drukte op het Wed. De gastvrije sfeer zorgt ervoor dat iedereen zich in De Vingerhoed onmiddellijk thuis voelt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stopped in for a light lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how big my meal was. I ordered the brie and honey expecting a bit if bread, a small portion of brie, and a drizzle of honey. Instead I got 5 large slices of brie, 2 large slices of bread, some butter, tomatoes, onion, cucumber and greens, and the perfect portion of honey. With a Radler it was 10.50 and was plenty to fill me up for more exploring.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is nice. Quite crowded. Along the canals of utrecht. Easy to spot. Friendly waiters. I liked the beer, was quite nice. For borrelsnack, ordered bittergarnituur. The loempias weren't that good, but the kaastengels were amazing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I like the daily food offers, simple but great at an affordable price. The terrace is perfect, a good view on all the people passing by. As a bonus also heaters, so you can sit outside even when it's cold. You only have to ask if they will switch them on for you. So a good place to have a drink and food. Or drinks only.

+ in front there is a (heated) terrace near the water
+ when inside, if you are lucky to sit near the window, u get a great view over the canals
Tip: they have an amazing fresh ginger tea!
All in all a nice cafe restaurant! Recommend this place!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here to eat lunch today and despite my gibberish English pronunciation, the service was great, the food delicious (a toasted sandwich with bell pepper, onions, ham and cheese plus a salad on the side).
The setting was very nice, a little terrace on the street and the possibility to sit inside, next to the windows and watch the boats go by...
I would recommend to anyone who wants a drink or a nice bite for lunch (didn't test the fancier dinner dishes but I'm sure it's also great).
