I really loved how authentic this place is! They stay true to the traditional Japanese culture and offer 3 different types of okonomiyaki with a bunch of toping combinations (no chicken though, but marinated beef, cheese, mushroom and seafood are among the other toppings) on the menu it does warn you that it will take 30 min to prepare your pancake because it's made fresh in front of your eyes. They have an open kitchen similar to the ones in Japan. The staff are also very kind. d It's a very quaint and tiny restaurant with a max of 7-10 tables so come when you have time and make a reservation if you can.

Good okonomiyaki. 3 different types of pancake with different toppings. Really good experience. The waiter was a bit slow and food took long, but this is already mentioned on the menu because they cook it the β€œoriginal” way. That takes about 30 min. Price range from 10-20 Eur is quite expensive but you get good quality. Also the fried chicken is good and has wasabi mayo with it. Love it.

This restaurant is another proof that the best Japanese restaurants are focused on one kind of food. Of course you wait long because it’s absolutely fresh made. Definitely the best Japanese pancakes we had since we left Asia.

β€œA different and nice option to try.” I have to clarify that is not an incredibly original savoury place. It's a great place to have lunch and get a different mix of ingredients than a broodje or poached eggs. The service was truly nice! Seat in the kitchen bar in order to see the cooking process.

Food was very nice, especially fried chicken with cream-wasabi sauce. Service was okay, interior is pretty decrepit. Next time I'll order take away and eat their pancakes somewhere else.

Authentic Japanese pancakes right here in Amsterdam, the owner truly makes unique combinations which, according to the owner, are not even made in Japan itself. Be prepared to wait a bit for your freshly prepared pancake, but well worth it. The place is small and decorations are very very minimal, for the best experience try to sit upstairs and see how the chef makes his pancakes!

It's believed that people were already enjoying pancakes during the Stone Age 30,000 years ago. The number of pancake restaurants in Amsterdam has increased significantly during the last few years. Such is the popularity of this favourite dish, there's even a pancake cruise, taking in the sights while devouring the "goodies". For something totally different, make a visit to Japanese Pancake World in the Jordaan, 5 minutes walk from Westertoren. Japanese pancakes were first recorded in the 16th century and are very much considered a delicacy. Japanese pancakes are known as "Okonomiyaki" which translates as "Prepare as you wish". These are savoury pancakes which can be served with a multitude of fillings. Cooking these to perfection is such that Chefs train for many years. The restaurant serves three different types of pancake: Osaka-style - the most popular, served with sauce and mayonnaise, Hiroshima-style and Negi-yaki (Scallion Pancake). Hiroshima-style is served with various ingredients of choice, topped with fried noodles, a fried egg and a coating of fine seaweed flakes. Due to the heat of the pancakes, the flakes dance on the surface, giving the impression of constant movement. Nogi-yaki is prepared with a generous portion of scallions mixed in the batter. Meat and fish lovers are catered for, as well as vegetarians. Cooking time takes considerably longer than regular pancakes. Expect to wait about 20 minutes. Recommended dessert is a trio of Japanese ice creams - green tea and black and white sesame, served with plum liquor fruits and the option of a Japanese style crΓͺpe. The restaurant is very small with only a few tables, so a reservation is a 'must'. Should definitely be on every foodie's Amsterdam bucket list.

I would say skip it ... too expensive for the quality you get .. I got a 23 euro pancake with seafood, you would at least expect fresh fish, but unfortunately all frozen from bags!!! Taste of the food average.. nothing special !! Owner quite hostile . I am really struggling to find a good point ... But if u don't believe me try ur self :)) If u know a bit about Japanese food u will definitely be disappointed.
