★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Anfang des 20.Jahrhundert hatte Pater Sarton die Idee, eine Lourdes Grotte in Valkenburg nachzubauen.
1926 wurde seine Idee Wirklichkeit und man begann mit dem Bau. Im Sommer 1928 wurde die Grotte originalgetreu fertiggestellt.
Neben einem dankbaren Wanderziel ist die Höhle, die 1990 restauriert wurde, immer noch ein Ort, an dem sich jeden Tag viele Gläubige versammeln, um eine Kerze anzuzünden und ein kurzes Gebet an Maria zu richten ...
At the beginning of the 20th century, Father Sarton had the idea to recreate a Lourdes grotto in Valkenburg.
In 1926 his idea became reality and construction began. In the summer of 1928 the grotto was completed true to the original.

Je kunt er kaarsjes branden vanaf €0,50. Er is ook een shop aanwezig.
Beautiful cave. I know Lourdes caves where Bernadette is kneeling before Saint Mary, but here she is standing a long way away in a nun's clothes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ondanks dat het ook een toeristische attractie is wordt deze plaats ook ervaren als een plek van gebed en bezinning. Fijn om er even te zitten en in alle stilte na te denken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Leuke plek, een soort kerk in de open lucht. Je kunt er zo even langs wandelen. Het winkeltje met 'devotionalia' was gesloten.
Nice place, a kind of church in the open air. You can just walk past it. The shop with 'devotionals' was closed.
