V	V F on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ With my husband being half-Italian and visiting Italy multiple times a year, we usually avoid Italian restaurants in Amsterdam as generally they're not great, (often not really Italian, but Turkish or Dutch making non-traditional pasta dishes). What a delight it was to eat at Da Damiano. Traditional Italian food, real Italian quality. Good wines, great options for primi (the pasta course) and the secondi (meat or fish course) we chose were very good as well. We had an antipasto special as well and dessert and everything was of the highest quality. We left with very full tummies and a promise to return!

We ordered the special pasta of the day, meant to be homemade with fish clams and prawns. When the waiter asked how we liked our food we told the truth: tasteless and disappointed about the frozen fish. He told us that was right and he was sorry. Apparently though the owner of the place doesn't really care. Result:47 euros for 2 pasta plates and 2 glasses of wine (what you would pay for a nice Italian authentic restaurant). Very disappointed, especially because the place is next to home. Would definitely recommend going to other nice spots in the area.

At first there was no problems, we were seated and the head waiter proceeded to ask us what we would like to drink, my friend ordered wine and i asked for lemonade. He seemed shocked that i said this and told me I should also order wine. I kindly declined and stuck with my lemonade. He brought the drinks back and then asked what we would like to eat, whilst were informing him of our meal choice, the head waiter kept rubbing my arm and shoulder which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. My friend also felt uncomfortable watching this and tried to get him to leave the table. After our starters arrived, he brought someone out from inside and kept pointing over at us ( again making me feel more uncomfortable). Our food arrived and as were about to eat, the waiter comes over and gets the glass of wine and brings it to my lips and says "I must drink" I pushed his hand away and couldn't help but feel mortified. We decided to leave straight after. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Update: I have emailed you with a picture of the waiter. Also your last entry was in Dutch. I have translated it and I'm okay with that. As i have evidence and i have a witness. I've not wrote to discredit your food, but to make you aware of how your waiter has made me feel and make others aware of this.

This has been the best Italian food I've eaten outside of Italy and rightfully so as the entire staff is Italian! I highly recommend eating here, take your time and relax while you eat and people watch in this cute area of town away from the hustle and bustle.
