Mid range price; top range dining experience. Delicious food with attention to detail, friendly staff and a good ambience without being pretentious. Tried the taleggio ravioli, lamb with risotto, and raspberry and lime panacotta. With wine came to €50pp but well worth it. Recommend sharing a side of fries to top up your main if you're particularly hungry as we were. A real gem down an unassuming back road.

Totally a hidden gem in the Jordan! Not especially cheap (rose fish for €21), but magnificently prepared with attention to detail. Excellent service, lovely ambience, all in all highly recommended.

Friendly staff at this old pub, the owner has had the place for the past 40 years and seems lovely. Normal beer selection for the Netherlands.

Cafe De Reiger is a little historic gastropub serving great food including fresh fish and Dutch classics. They DON'T take reservations, but don't let that discourage you, especially if you're eating before 7:45 or so. These folks care about the food they serve, and it shows. One of our best casual meals in Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

Great little restaurant in the Jordan district! We sat outside, ate great food and drank tasty vino. The restaurant is not far from the tourist area and yet it feel you are eating like they locals do. I highly recommend it

De Reiger is a traditional Dutch bar and restaurant located on Nieuwe Leliestraat in the Jordaan District. This is one of the oldest eateries in the area having first opened its doors in 1896. Opening hours are 5pm to 12am (Tues to Fri), 12pm to 12am (Sat) and 5pm to 12am (Sun). De Reiger is closed on Mondays. We had a late dinner at De Reiger during our recent stay in Amsterdam, dining outdoors to take advantage of the nice evening weather. Overall, we had an ok meal but not as impressive as we had expected based on the many vey good reviews for this place. During our meal, we had two daily specials the sea bass and pork and veal lion. The sea bass tasted decent, the veg and risotto sides were bland and didn't contribute much to the fillets. Similarly the pork lion was fair but not great. It was grilled well but somewhat lacking in naure flavour. Potato and green bean sides covered in mushroom gravy were just ok. In the end, nothing bad about our meal at De Reiger but dishes were simply not as good as what we were expecting. Have had many very good meals in Amsterdam, particularly in the Jordaan area. This one just didn't measure up this time around.

The place is vibrant. When we came mostly locals were here. Menu is small but good also has some specials (daily or weekly). The service is ok, a bit slow and moody. The food also ok. I had the ribs and my friend had the steak. He ordered medium however it came rare. We also both had side dish fries but we only got one portion of fries which was weird. There is a 2% surcharge if you pay with credit card and it is written on the receipt.
