The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Amsterdam with all the canals, bridges & historical city mansions. There are many restaurants and lovely authentic shops ( no chains!!). The hotel itself is very nice. The room we stayed in had everything we needed and I love how it was decorated and styled. But the stairs are very narrow and steep and there is no elevator so keep that in mind!!

Sweet little hotel that offers just everything you need. After a tiny hallway and steep old fashioned stairs, a spacious room awaits you. Our room was at the side of the Utrechtse dwarsstraat, we did hear some noise from the street, but it wasn't annoying or keeping us awake at any time. The room is light and perfectly decorated in a way you want it in your own home. The bed is all you want after a day cruising around the city. There are different pillows to choose from and the bed linen is crisp. The bathroom has a nice shower and is super clean (just as the rest of the room). The extra baby bed that was placed in our room was perfect! The hotel is situated on walking distance of many sightseeing hotspots, but also allows you to escape from the city's business. It doesn't offer breakfast, dinner or drinks, but the neighborhood makes up for that :) (the hotel also offers their tips). Would definitely recommend this place!

My daughter booked a trip during the summer of 2020 to celebrate the finishing of their A levels but for obvious reason had to cancel on a couple of occasions because of COVID restrictions. They are not looking for a refund but just the flexibility and understanding to rearrange sometime during 2022 and especially now most COVID restrictions have now been lifted. Unfortunately though the Hotel are insisting they use the booking before the end of March which simply isn't possible with their studying, and although we have explained the reasons why they can't, the hotel is unwilling to budge. This whole COVID thing has been a strain on everyone and this review could have so easily been a positive one with just a little more understanding. These students have worked hard to save this money for their first holiday abroad only to have it ruined by your inflexibility, shame :(

This hotel is located in a great neighborhood, rooms are lovely, nicely decorated and super clean! Beds are soooo confortable! Don’t forget earplugs as the walls are not soundproof at all, and some guests do not understand that if you come in at 11 pm or midnight, you should not be loud… I got an upgrade to a bigger room which I really really appreciated it. Staff is very friendly and allowed me to store my luggage after check-out. However they tried to charge my credit card during my stay, for the total amount of the stay (over 400€!!) which I already paid at time of booking; when I talked to the receptionist (as I had received a weird message telling me my payment could not be processed) she just said « it’s because we tried to charge your card, but then we cancelled it, so everything is fineΒ Β» without apologizing. Didn’t appreciate that at all. Also, I had a little tecnhical problem at about 9 pm but reception is only open until 6; on my desk there was a number with written « for any question call this numberΒ Β» - I called it and the guy who answered said « this is not the hotel Dwars but the hotel XXX so I cannot help youΒ Β». So why put that on the desk? Also there is no switch for the bathroom light, it just turns off on its own after like 20 min, so if you go to the toilet during the night for example, the light will be on for a long time… I find it quite strange and not ecological. Globally a very nice stay and a hotel I recommend.

Very nice stay in a very typical Amsterdam house... The room was good, be it quite compact. The beds were very comfortable. The two large windows could open, which I always find very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely consider staying at Hotel Dwars again. Not too much of a deal breaker was the water-pressure in the shower: that could have been better. For those who are not used to Amsterdam houses, the stairs can be a bit of a challenge... But I'd say these two remarks should not keep you from staying at this hotel!
