In hartje Antwerpen aan de Sint-Katelijnevest nabij de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal, bevindt zich ons zusje, restaurant De Godevaart.
Hier worden, net zoals bij ons, seizoensgebonden gerechten geserveerd, waarbij kwaliteit, ambacht en smaak hoog in het vaandel staan. De Frans klassieke keuken vormt ook hier een rode draad en De Godevaart richt zich vooral op hoogstaande en smaakvolle a-la-carte gerechten.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Maybe we just went too early and the management weren't in place yet, but despite of not a bad level of cooking itself, the whole experience was rather poor.
Instead of normal menu on paper we got dramatically confusing oral explanation, so had to insist on looking at the menu - I founded it still confusing. How it's possible at all: to overcomplicate such a simple thing, guys???
The menu was more or less fine (craftily done exercise on contemporary cuisine, no eye opening), but desserts were a joke - yet obligatory.
The size of portions might disappoint people with good appetite.
Service was incredibly slow, we had to wait at least 20-30 min for the second dish
In general, I doubt if come back - even if all managerial issues are solved.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent food and great service. Had the 7 course meal and each dish was very creative and well presented. The pacing of the courses was a tad fast but still acceptable. Service was unobtrusive and friendly. All in all a good dining experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful, French restaurant with an intimate atmosphere and delicate tasting menu. I loved every amuse bouche and leisurely course along with the thoughtful wine pairings. So many unique flavors and sauces excited my palate! We lingered over dinner for 2.5 hours and enjoyed attentive service in the dining room with dark, moody murals that gave me the sense of stepping into a Vermeer still life. I look forward to returning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Johannes provides a good culinary experience and friendly service but it's a little bit overpriced.
We went for a seven course, water and two bottles of whine for three people and we ended up paying almost 400€.
Food experience is really good, with a great mix of textures, temperatures and flavours. We had a joyful time during four hours.
The location is great but the overall furnishing of the restaurant, the cutlery, restrooms... Are not at the same level.
With some little investments and prizing with a little bit of love, this would be a five star for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was delicious, beautifully or presented with a great variety of original flavours and textures. What was missing here (on our night) was knowledge of the wine menu. When you drink wines of € 70 a bottle you expect some storytelling about the wine, region, grape and producer. Had to Google to find out for ourselves. Decoration of the restaurant is simple but fine. Oh and one thing: please change the music to match the ambience...
